Bio & Contact: Who the heck is Nihad Djouwe Gervais?


After sharing a few articles with you, where I had the effrontery to talk to you as though we were friends, I guess it is normal to finally unveil myself right? Especially after a reader recently asked what I do and where on earth do I get the precious knowledge that I have from.

 

On a legal note I am Djouwé Bidjanga Gervais and i am from Cameroon. I have adopted the pen name Nihad ever since it was given to me by a Muslim family in Accra (Ghana) as, even though I was a Christian, I fully took part in the Kareem with them everyday up to the day of Ramadan. My friends call me Gervais or Nihad. Should you prefer my family name, kindly add up “Mr.” in front of it to make it Mr. Djouwé.

 

By training, I have been a Business Administrator since 2009 after studying in Central University College in Accra. I pursued in the same field in my MBA course at ESSEC de Douala. By expérience, I am a Business Development & Marketing Strategist, thanks to various stints in various industries such as Microfinance, Hospitality industry, Events organising, pico solar energy distribution, cosmetics in Ghana and Cameroon and also thanks to various Marketing and communication agencies (ATL, BTL & Digital) I was employed in and where I had the chance to manage portfolios for entities in the banking industry, Insurance, Beverages industry and Fast Moving Consumer Goods. Currently, I am the proud Marketing Manager of Afrikpay, a digital payments platform based in Douala.

 


On a self-made note, thanks to my setting up of 2 companies to date, the first of which is bankrupted (Gravies Group, HR Consulting, Ghana), and my last born, henceFORTH, a Strategic Marketing firm in Douala since 2013. I am therefore an entrepreneur, a copywriter, a Social Media Strategist, a marketing consultant, a facilitator, a part-time lecturer, a translator and a even a writer since, in October 2011, I published a book titled “Application Means Appointment”: a simple but powerful tool that explains to first time managers, reminds HR managers and teaches final year university students the background workings of the recruitment process.   

 

All these taught me how a business works (with a vantage point from different departments), how to start and conduct a project, how to work with people, how to be more organized and efficient, what good work looks like, how to make decisions, how to create, maintain and develop a company’s goodwill, and how to plan, organise, direct and control marketing processes (Market studies and analysis, product strategy, publicity, distribution, brand management etc...) which is my main field of expertise.

 

On a more personal note, I am 35 years old, married and father to the 3 sweetest little sorcerers who ever walked earth. I am fond of good food, movies, jokes, mind games, police investigation TV shows, books, playing with words, travelling, chess, internet and social media.

 

Finally, I am extremely bilingual (English and French), a playful and goofy soul, very IT-minded, as positive as the word can’t say it enough and ever willing and keen to work with you, help you and your enterprises/ventures, existing or upcoming, to reach that level you have always dreamt of.
